We've been building since 2017, so five years, and we've got a team of four people in the office. We've got an estimator, myself, Raymond, and an accountant. We've got a couple of builders, three apprentices and two labourers. We then subcontract a few other builders on top of that to fit in with other work.
It was a great option to use you guys to get some designs for Hivis, especially when we were new in the first couple of years that we started; we could provide clients with new-build options.
Heaps! We've been finding that it's easier to base off what the client is looking for if they want any changes in the sense, so you can play off the multiple designs that you guys have provided us and then also be able to customise and use some for house and land packages.
Marketing the designs definitely pulls in people more than having no plans.
It transitioned from where we were doing more in-between jobs, renovations and a couple of new builds of people that we knew into clients that we haven't known before, so it's been a great transition into that.
It definitely sped up getting clients in the door and getting them to know what they wanted.
Yeah, it definitely gives way more control on the position of what we can suggest and then keep everyone settled down and not freaking out; it keeps the design all in house.
It's worked out amazingly! We've built six designs, two down in Sorell, two other designs in Raminea, and we've also built two others in a two-unit development side by side. It's been up and above in the sense of being worth it, knowing that we've been able to have plans, especially going into doing our first home and land packages; couldn't use any better!
Brick cladding was added and the entry/ garage switched places.
